IT STARTED LONG BEFORE MISMACK

Missy MacKintosh’s love of makeup started at three years old.

She was fascinated by it long before she was ever allowed to wear it.

When her mom joined Mary Kay when Missy was 14, Missy became her right hand for the next four years. Then came the realization that this childhood obsession could actually become a career.

Missy studied makeup artistry at Blanche Macdonald and graduated with honours. By 20, she was managing a MAKE UP FOR EVER counter. At 21, she was recruited by Shoppers Drug Mart to manage what was then its largest cosmetics boutique in Western Canada and the first in the region to carry MAKE UP FOR EVER.

Cosmetics had become more than something she loved.

It was what she knew.

MAKEUP FOLLOWED HER HOME

After a deeply personal loss brought Missy back to Salmon Arm, she spent six years running a travel agency and thought her career in makeup might be behind her.

It wasn’t.

One wedding became another. Then another.

By 2014, the demand had grown enough for Missy to return to makeup artistry full time.

Her work expanded into weddings, commercial campaigns, opera, editorial and education. Her artistry was featured internationally, including Cosmopolitan and HuffPost. She created her own makeup artistry training program, trained other artists and taught makeup artistry through Okanagan College.

What started as a childhood obsession had become an internationally acclaimed career.

And then one job changed everything.

THE SHOOT THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

In 2016, Missy was hired for a campaign for a new retailer, Portia Ella, featuring natural and Canadian made cosmetics.

She went into the shoot with a preconceived idea that the products would not perform to the standards she required as a professional artist.

At the time, they didn’t.

But what happened on set opened her eyes to something much bigger than performance.

She began asking questions about ingredients.

Once she started learning, she could not look at her professional kit the same way again.

At the same time, Missy knew customers did not want to give up colour, creativity, experience or Pro Performance in order to choose products made with more intentional ingredients.

After a lifetime in cosmetics artistry and retail, she could see the gap clearly.

So she decided to build what she could not find.

FROM AN IDEA TO MISMACK

Missy began networking until she connected with a Canadian female chemist who believed in what she was trying to create.

Artistry met formulation.

MisMacK began taking shape in a small town basement in Canoe, British Columbia.

In 2018, MisMacK Clean Cosmetics® was introduced to the world with GlitterEnvi™, followed by Flawless Foundation, ART Shadows, Moisture Locking Lipsticks, BLUR Setting Powder, skincare, Pro Brushes, lashes and more.

Each product was created around the same thinking.

Intentional ingredients. Pro Performance. Multi use whenever possible. Products created for real life and designed to work together.

What had started as an idea was becoming something much bigger.

One Product Changed Everything

GamePlay™ Eye Black was never part of the business plan.

After losing her dad, Missy was navigating a season of grief when a simple conversation with her son Evan turned into a fun mother son project.

Evan wanted to wear Eye Black for baseball, but Missy was not comfortable with the ingredients in the products they were finding. Knowing MisMacK already had the manufacturing relationships and experience creating cosmetics, she asked him:

“Do you want to create a clean Eye Black?”

Evan said yes.

From there, he became part of every step. The name. The logo. The packaging. The formulation. How it needed to perform. And eventually, standing beside his mom to pitch GamePlay™ on Dragons’ Den.

What started as something fun for a mom and her son during a difficult season began to snowball into something neither of them had planned.

But somewhere along the way, something clicked.

GamePlay™ was not separate from MisMacK.

It was proof of what MisMacK had been building from the beginning.

Flawless Foundation performing through a long day.

ART Shadows moving from eyes to cheeks, lips and brows.

Skincare preparing the skin while working directly with cosmetics.

AMP’D UP Mascara doubles as a transferproof gel liner.

GamePlay™ performing on and off the field, from game day Eye Black to a crease proof eye shadow base and theatre paint.

Different moments. The same philosophy.

That realization gave a name to what MisMacK had been creating all along:

Sports Colour Cosmetics™.

Today, Skincare, Cosmetics and GamePlay™ come together as one multi use ecosystem, built to work together and defined by Pro Performance with intentional, high integrity ingredients.

One ecosystem. Multiple solutions. Built to work together.
